Shawarma Grill House - Umm Suqeim, Dubai - Spoons and Wings

Located on Jumeirah Beach Road, Umm Suqeim close to Burj Al Arab. They term it as an “Urban Middle Eastern cuisine” restaurant. The interiors are contemporary with a liberal use of brown wood and tungsten bulbs hanging from the celling. Creating a very cosy ambiance.

They serve a wide selection of middle eastern urban specialties such as kebabs, fresh fish, their signature Shawarma Pita Sandwichs, full range of hot and cold mezze, bakery desserts, freshly squeezed juices, Milkshakes and hot beverages.

They mostly use fresh and healthy ingredients, from the homemade marinades, sauces to the meats.

We had gone there for dinner with family.

As usual started with our favourite Fattoush salad – made with mixed greens and other vegetables, such as radishes and tomatoes, topped with toasted or fried pieces of pita bread and tangy pomegranate molasses and lemon used as the dressing.

Moutabel – is a delicious and spicy eggplant (aubergine) dip ground together garlic, basil and green chile peppers. Its best eaten with Pita bread.

Pita bread – Arabic bread a soft, slightly leavened flatbread baked from wheat flour, said to have originated around Mesopotamia around 2500 BC.

For drinks we had the Watermelon juice and Cocktail juice, made from freshly squeezed fruits.

Falafel Plate – a traditional Egyptian and Middle Eastern food. Fried ball or patty made from ground chickpeas and fava beans.

Chicken shawarma sandwich – a Levantine meat preparation, eaten as a fast food, sliced in thin layers and made up into a sandwich wrap with pita together with vegetables and dressing.

We had the Mix grill to get a taste of most of the grills they serve, viz. shish tawouk, kebab ofrali, kebab and lamb chops accompanied with tabbouleh and hummus.

We had also requested extra wagyu beet diced and grilled. Wagyu is beef cattle from Japan, known for its high percentage of oleaginous unsaturated fat. Its very juicy and tasty.
