Located at “The Beach Mall”, JBR facing the beautiful sea. It’s a new restaurant serving international fusion food, more influenced with American and Japanese cuisines. The restaurant interiors reminded me of a restaurant I had been to in the Key West, Florida. It has simple contemporary interiors with graffiti of crabs and other icons giving it the look of a typical Retro styled American sea food restaurant. The uniqueness was the sushi bar in the restaurant. The seating outside is very pleasant with the view of the people walking around, the beach and the cool breeze of the sea.
We were invited by Azur Blue for a tasting session. I preferred the Sea food menu. There are options for vegetarians and meat lovers too including chicken options.
I had the Mojito – Made with apple juice, mint leaves, lime and crushed ICE in Soda. It was very refreshing.
Started with C22 Shrimps – A signature offering, made with shrimp covered with tasty batter, fried and tossed in spiced chili aioli, and served over sweet and sour tropical salsa. These shrimps were bigger than the regular dynamite shrimps I have had at other popular joints.
Crispy Lobster Crab Roll – Poached Lobster and crab with fried panko and chives. This was the tastiest dish I had in this visit. I would highly recommend these rolls.
Teriyaki Hamour Fish – Served on skewer sticks. Lime and Chilli glazed Hamour cubes grilled with smoked chili and sweet mango sauce. Being a fan of Hamour fish, the taste was not up to my expectation. I am sure they can do better.
Jumbo Asparagus – Served on skewer sticks. Pure veg. Crisp asparagus with creamy tahiana and pickled roasted peppers. I loved the smoky flavour. I would recommend this dish.
Seafood Pasta – A typical Italian styled spaghetti in white creamy sauce, made with sautéed Jumbo shrimps, mussels and calamari with garlic, lemon and fresh tomato with a hint of cream, lobster broth and fresh herbs. The combination was just perfect, not too creamy. The sea food was fresh. Good portion size, good for two.
For deserts, we had the Lotus French toast – It is a C22 creation. Made of crusted Brioche stuffed with lotus cream and topped with vanilla bean crème anglaise. Again a large portion, good for two. Very tasty, infact even if you dropped by any time of the day, just to have this desert, it is worth it.
My friends had the Popcorn Chocolate Ganache, I took a bite from it – A gooey ganache baked with chocolate chip cookies, caramel popcorn, fresh raspberries and vanilla ice cream. I like the dark chocolate sauce inside of it.
Over all we enjoyed the dinner and for sure I will be back for the Crispy Lobster Crab Rolls.
