On the invitation of the management of Punjab Grill, I had visited the restaurant for tasting their newly introduced Business Lunch menu priced at AED 95/-.
The restaurant is located in the Venetian Village in the vicinity of The Ritz Carlton Abu Dhabi beside the Grand Canal. The architecture is inspired by the Renaissance era of Venice. The restaurant interiors are very modern and upscale, but, yet creating an ambiance perfect for a relaxed fine dining experience that intrigue and delight.
We started with a mojito the Anneka – a relishing blend of pomegranate juice, mint leaves, lime and vanilla syrup.
Then were served an amuse-bouche of onion pakora topped with yoghurt, sev and chaat masala. Pani puri filled with a sorbet, just perfect to get you salivating.
In the side were a variety of papads and Chutneys viz. Mixed pickle, black chick peas masala, sweet yogurt with burnt garlic, mint and coriander
For APPETISERS there is a choice of the following;
DAL KA SHORBA
Lentil soup & palak crisp
Or
VEG SAMOSA CHAAT
Potato pastry, chickpeas & dressing
Or
WATERMELON SLIDER
Palak patta chaat & herb lime glaze
I chose the Watermelon slider – passion fruit jelly in the bottom, a cube of watermelon with sprouts with mint and tamarind sauce, topped with the foam of watermelon.
Before we started the mains we were served palate cleanser – the Mix berry sorbet
For MAINS we had a choice of four mouth watering dishes;
SPICE CRUSTED MACCHI
Baked Nile perch with porcini korma & green apple foam
Or
CHICKEN TIKKA TRIO
Chicken murgh malai, classic chicken, mint & coriander
Or
MEAT PUNJAB GRILL
A house speciality of tender mutton simmered with root vegetables & spices
with
PUDINA PARATHA or GARLIC NAAN
SAFED CHAWAL or JEERA RICE
I chose to have the Spice Crusted Macchi – A fillet of Nile pearch, baked to perfection, served on top of asparagus with porcini korma and mushroom sauce, topped with green apple foam.
After the main course, yet another palate cleanser an was served the Dew Drops – truly an imaginative dish. Balls made with the gelatine of agar filled with tender coconut water, with a touch of honey, ginger and black pepper.
DESSERTS had a choice of two of the most favourite traditional sweets;
RAS MALAI or GULAB JAMUN
Ras Malai has always been my weakness. It is made with Indian cottage cheese immersed in sweetened condensed milk, with a touch of cardamom flavour and topped with dry fruits and rose petals.
After such a heavy three course gourmet meal, I need something to keep me alert on the way back to Dubai and thus the must drink cappuccino.
A perfect place for a gourmet experience of Indian fine dining culinary adventure.
