Thai food is one of my favourite. After fasting during the whole of Ramadan, I was eager to have Thai food the next day of Eid. Little Bangkok was always on my list to visit. They ran an Eid holiday promotion on Facebook for 25% discount – So, this was the right occasion fuelled by an irresistible tempting offer.
We did an online restaurant booking through Zomato.com . Very convenient.
Located just next to the Emirates Towers Metro station on the ground floor. They have valet parking. The interiors are influenced by Thai culture, with a good ambiance. They have seating indoors and outdoors. Also extra seating in the mezzanine floor. The staff were very friendly and courteous.
Thai cooking is lightly prepared using fresh spices giving a strong aroma. Each dish usually has 3 to 5 taste senses in each dish or the entire meal viz. sour, sweet, salty, bitter, and spicy. We started with the Tom Yam goong. A soup with the flavours of lemongrass, galangal, mushrooms, kaffir lime leaves, fresh Thai chilies, and fresh lime juice, a combination to create a healthy and soothing broth which lights up your taste buds.
For starters we had the Chicken Satay with peanut sauce, Xiao long bao chicken steam dumplings, Shumai seafood – Chinese steam dumplings, Chinese steam dim sums and Goong Tod – Prawns coated in tapioca flour, fish sauce, soy sauce, garlic, and white pepper, then fried with tail peel intact.
Kiew Gai – One of the signature Thai dishes Thai green curry. An immaculate blend of green curry paste, sweet basil, egg plant, combined with coconut cream to create a thick curry chicken to compliment the taste, that goes extremely well with Kao Suay – Steamed Thai Jasmine Rice.
Pad Thai – A stir fried medium size rice noodles (sen lek) with fish sauce, sugar, lime juice or tamarind pulp, ground peanuts, egg, bean sprouts, and Chinese chives (kuichai), combined with chicken, seafood, or tofu.
Keemao Gai (Chicken) and Talay – Chinese influenced thai noodles. Normally made with broad rice noodles, soy sauce, fish sauce, garlic, meat, seafood or tofu, bean sprouts or other vegetables, and various seasonings. Chili, unripe drupes pepper and holy basil give rise to its distinctive spiciness.
The quantity, quality and taste was awesome.
