Local Bites Cafe – Umm Suqeim, Dubai

There is always a special excitement when you know the old cafe that has undergone a renovation is back & reopened their doors. You soon try them with their best foot forward. The local bite that has titivated in their Emirati appearance, with a splendid fusion menu in the house. Menu went through a makeover too, keeping the popular local dishes on the menu and introducing new modernised platter on board, with Emirati and Desi favours. We were all summoned up to try out the new menu and we couldn’t stop to dig in.

Beverages – We started off with drinks, Cold Coffee made with organic coffee using purely date syrup as a sweetener, it was smooth, mellow, date syrup made it taste much richer. It is a must try when u visit. We also had locally produced refreshing drinks “Namlet” in glass bottles with flavours offering from rose, lemon, and mango. These were pretty good not much of sweet yet refreshing.

Appetisers – Salad Trio – Locals favourite, the classic Fattoush salad dressed slightly with sweet pomegranate dressing, along with Tabbouleh had kept its traditional touch with flavour spot on. A new addition to menu and my taste buds was stir fried cauliflower salad with soy garlic seasoning was quiet delicious.

Then on the list was Mediterranean platter that had traditional house baked pitta bread with perfectly grilled soft halloumi cheese, alongside two ramekins filled with was labneh which was creamy and hummus with olive oil and sprinkle of coriander on it to offer a Indian touch last but not the least crispy falafel on a toothpick inserted in pita.

Mains – We had assortment of Paratha’s presented to us, which were quiet innovative and truly divine for taste.

The crispy Oman chips & cheese roll was quiet cheesy and tangy.

Pizzatha a combination of paratha and pizza. A flat bread with pizza sauce with tender chicken pieces stuffed presented in triangular cut was blast of flavours and yummy. Mash cheese paratha were mashed potato along with cheese; very similar to potato cheese toast. There were many more paratha to list, as Stuffed paratha with mashed potato & chilli chutney, and tikka roll.

Next on try was Khameer Platter a popular old-fashioned Emirati snack khameer stuffed with mildly spiced chicken was served with Tzatiki sauce which went very lovely with khameer. They do a vegetarian option instead of chicken is Crispy Falafel.

Desserts – No one leaves a cafe without a sweet note so, here we were heading to last step of meal the dessert going with the tradition of UAE came the Lugaimat small round fried dumpling topped with date syrup which were super soft and wonderful. Hold your heart, as the next sweet will make your mouth water because it is Nutellaaaa, a crispy paratha oozing out nutella from sides with cream cheese, strawberries & drizzle of date syrup made it look so attractive that I couldn’t keep my eyes out of it, it was delectable. It’s definitely recommended.

Local bites cafe is a definitely a spot to try local delicacies with touch of Asian flavours. The dessert along with the paratha platter will be among your favourite cafes in Dubai. People can also grab food and have a stroll on beach. I will definitely revisit it with family and friends. Value for money too.
