Mrs. Kajal Narang was the winner of Foodshala Season 4, a popular television show showcasing the culinary talents of people in the UAE. When she won the title in July 2015, she expressed her dream to start her own cafe in Dubai. She has always been pushed by her biggest fan, her son Yash Narang, to showcase her talent of cooking in the Foodshala competition and then to open a cafe.
Now the dream is coming true. The Narang family has put up Moreish a beautiful cafe in Oud Metha, close to Lamcy Plaza. The interiors are contemporary styled with a seating outside too. One wall of the restaurant has been painted with Moreish written in many languages. In the centre of each table is embedded a tic tak board game. You can have a fun game with friends and family till the fresh food is served to you.
The restaurant’s menu has been very passionately chosen by Mrs. Kajal Narang herself. She heads the kitchen and apart from the recipes’ ingredients she adds the most important ingredient “Passion” in the cooking.
We were invited for a tasting session. The café serves Italian, Mexican and Thai food.
We started with the Chef’s special watermelon feta salad – Chilled watermelon, fresh arugula leaves and feta with flavours of balsamic vinaigrette, ginger and sesame tulle, served on bed of ice. It had the visual effects of cold smoke to give a touch of molecular gastronomy.
Moreish shawarma nachos – House spiced chicken on nachos chips with tahini garlic sauce. This was tastier than that served in popular Mexican restaurants.
Lemon grass chicken skewers – Tender chicken thighs marinated in Thai spices and zesty lemon grass served in smoked pepper emulsion and orange reduction.
For drinks we had the Evolution (Leeche and Lemon grass), Blue margarita (Blue Curacao and orange) and Strawberry breeze (Strawberry with mint and lime) Mojitos.
My son loves pasta. You can make a pasta of your choice. We ordered for Chicken pasta (spaghetti) with pink sauce, chicken, mushrooms, and sundried tomatoes. It was very tasty.
We had one of my favorites the Thai green curry chicken with steam rice – A classic Thai curry with aubergines, kaffir lime and sweet basil served with fresh pandan rice. Made perfectly as in the top Thai restaurants.
Slow Roasted chicken – Owen roasted chicken served with vegetables, Mexican rice and smoky pepper sauce. Crisp on top and soft inside.
We ended with the Burnt Marshmallow Brownie – Warm chocolate brownie and burnt marshmallows .
The meaning of Moreish is – so pleasant to eat that one wants more. It surely kept up to its name. The presentation, quality and taste of the food was excellent. When I entered the restaurant and realized that they server three different cuisines I wondered if they could do justice, but when I finished the dinner, I felt as though each dish was from a gourmet restaurant of its type.
I would highly recommend this café.
